VMware announced the major extensions of its Spring Framework are now compatible with Spring 3.1, the latest version of its open source development framework. That means Spring Integration, Spring Security, Spring Batch, Spring Data, Spring Mobile and Spring for Android are all now integrated with Spring 3.1. In other words, Spring has sprung.

The Spring Framework is a Java-based platform for developers to integrate enterprise apps such as “security models, databases, web services and messaging systems.” Spring is enabled to pull data from traditional databases as well as big data sources such as Hadoop.

“The latest release of the Spring Framework and its major extensions continue the tradition of taking care of the infrastructure so developers can focus on building applications that address today’s business requirements,” said VMware’s Adrian Colyer, CTO Cloud and Application Services, in a prepared statement.

On March 19, Talkin Cloud reported on the uptick in VMware’s stock price and the Talkin’ Cloud Stocks Index having risen 21 percent year to date. It’s safe to say with this most recent announcement VMware’s got a little more spring in its step.
