WANdisco Updates ALM Platform for Apache Subversion

WANdisco, the application lifecycle management (ALM) service provider, has updated its uberSVN open ALM platform for Apache Subversion and has developed a codename for the platform: “Blake,” after the Blake Hotel and Pub in Walkley, Sheffield where its European headquarters is located. uberSVN 11.12 still comes fully integrated with the uberAPPS application store but now includes social coding features for the very first time.Here’s a snapshot of other uberSVN 11.12 features, courtesy of WANdisco.
● A more helpful screen when uberSVN is unable to connect to the uberAPPS store.
● Repository support for anonymous reading. When enabled, the repository can be accessed/read without the need to authenticate.
● The option to switch to and from the latest version of Subversion – version 1.7.2 – with the SVNswitch tool.
According to the company, the biggest update surrounds the uberAPPS store, which WANdisco describes as a “one-stop shopping and assembly of software development lifecycle apps for Subversion.” The company released the uberAPPS store in late July 2011. Now it says that application developers can add applications to the uberAPPS store me quickly and easily, and enterprises can mark installed applications as visible or invisible on a per-user basis.
The new uberSVN 11.12 release has major implications for Fortune Global 1000 Companies like AT&T, Intel, Juniper Networks and others that leverage WANdisco’s Subversion solutions to support their enterprise-grade performance, scalability and 24×7 availability features. The free, upgradeable software is already available for download.
