ASCII Group to Promote Kaseya SaaS, Managed Services

Something is brewing between the ASCII Group and Kaseya. Details about an expanded, SaaS-oriented relationship are expected to surface at CompTIA's Breakaway 2009 conference, which starts Aug. 3 in Las Vegas. I've got some early details and I see a larger story emerging.

Something is brewing between the ASCII Group and Kaseya. Details about an expanded, SaaS-oriented relationship are expected to surface at CompTIA’s Breakaway 2009 conference, which starts Aug. 3 in Las Vegas. I’ve got some early details and I see a larger story emerging.

First, what I know for sure: According to three solutions providers that are ASCII Group members, the ASCII Group will offer a Kaseya SaaS solution to its members. The solution will include features developed and designed specifically for the ASCII Group members. A beta offering is set to be announced at CompTIA Breakaway, according to the ASCII Group’s Twitter feed.

Now, the bigger picture: MSP-focused software companies are pushing deeper into user  groups, associations and IT franchises to accelerate mass market software deployments.

Three prime examples:

Kaseya CEO Gerald Blackie described his company’s SaaS strategy to me during the Kaseya User Conference earlier this year. Kaseya also remains committed to on-premise software, but multiple sources close to the ASCII Group tell me the organization’s latest work with Kaseya is SaaS-specific.

I’ve got notes into both Kaseya and ASCII Group and hope to meet with both organizations at CompTIA Breakaway. By coincidence, I’ll be moderating an MSP-centric panel with Blackie during the event — and I’ll be sure to ask him for insights into the ASCII Group relationship.
