The Amazon Web Services (AWS) re:Invent 2015 conference took place in Las Vegas this week, and many news stories broke at the event that could affect both managed service providers (MSPs) and their customers. Here's a closer look at seven of the biggest re:Invent news stories that MSPs need to know about.
Equinix (EQIX) unveiled professional services to ensure customers can configure their networks to work with Amazon Web Services Direct Connect through the Equinix Cloud Exchange platform. In addition, Equinix's AWS Direct Connect Converged Infrastructure bundles feature deployment tools from cloud solutions provider Nimbo.
New Relic has added support for Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) to its Software Analytics Cloud. The company said the new support allows customers to monitor their Amazon EC2 instances in minutes.
Network security-as-a-service solution provider FortyCloud is now allowing AWS users to install its solution. FortyCloud introduced Bring Your Own License (BYOL) and paid Amazon Machine Images.
Managed cloud provider Cloudnexa has launched its White Label Managed Service Program. Cloudnexa said the new program allows AWS Partner Network (APN) members to "expand their business models and offer managed services to their customers."
Asigra is now enabling AWS customers to automate their AWS EC2 snapshot instances. The cloud backup and disaster recovery (BDR) software provider released a free beta version of its AWS EBS Snapshot Manager, which allows MSPs to create a snapshot schedule via a web-based graphical user interface (GUI).
AWS and Accenture (ACN) have created a business group designed to help companies move to the cloud. Omar Abbosh, Accenture's chief operating officer, said the new group will provide cloud migration support and big data analysis, along with additional services in the future.
AWS will continue to invest in its partner programs and expand into new regions over the next 18 months. Also, AWS announced APN Competencies in DevOps, cloud migration and the Internet of Things (IoT).
