Amanda Jobbins, VP of global partner marketing at Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO) has resigned from the networking company. Jobbins (pictured, left) is leaving Cisco for family reasons, and Senior VP Karen Walker (right) will take over Jobbins’ responsibilities in the interim. So what does The VAR Guy think?Bummer. Jobbins moved from Europe to Silicon Valley for this position, and made an immediate impact during her one year in the post. That’s no small feat, considering her predecessor Luanne Tierney had great success building partner-centric events such as Cisco Velocity (a marketing and social media gathering for VARs).
Tierney is now at Juniper Networks, and Jobbins is heading back to the United Kingdom.
According to a prepared statement from Cisco:
“Amanda Jobbins will be leaving Cisco for family reasons and returning to the UK. As VP of Global Partner Marketing over the past year, Amanda has done a tremendous job building out the function within Global Marketing and Corporate Communication. Karen Walker, SVP of Segment, Services and Partner Marketing, will lead the team in the interim and will work closely with Amanda through September to ensure a smooth transition. We thank Amanda for her many contributions during her tenure at Cisco.”
Walker’s credentials are impressive. She climbed the ranks in dramatic ways from 1984 through 2009 at Hewlett-Packard, ultimately becoming VP of marketing, Americas, Technology Systems Group. Walker joined Cisco in 2009 and has held various global VP and now senior VP responsibilities.
