Lenovo in “Multimillion Dollar” Enterprise Push with New U.S. Briefing Center
Lenovo is making moves on the enterprise market, opening a new, multimillion dollar facility in Research Triangle Park, NC specifically to showcase its products, innovations and services aimed at corporate customers.
As part of PC kingpin Lenovo’s push to build its enterprise business, the vendor has opened a new, multimillion dollar facility in Research Triangle Park, NC specifically to showcase its products, innovations and services aimed at corporate customers.
The Chinese vendor, which has led worldwide PC shipments for more than two years and has made strong moves into the smartphone market, now has its sights set on enterprise clients for its x86 server line acquired from IBM (IBM).
Lenovo’s Enterprise Briefing Center spans 11,000 sq. feet and features the vendor’s equipment for business customers to investigate. The facility, which Lenovo took over from Ericsson 15 months ago, provides a venue for Lenovo officials to meet with customers to test and experience the vendor’s most progressive enterprise innovations.
The vendor said customers will be able to engage with onsite engineers and product specialists, and gain access to a wide variety of systems, options, and data center infrastructure technology to fully understand Lenovo’s hardware, software and services portfolio.
“Today’s Enterprise Briefing Center opening represents a multimillion dollar investment in our enterprise business and confirms our commitment to become No. 1 in the global server market,” said Jay Parker, Lenovo Enterprise Business Group senior vice president.
Parker said the new center dovetails with similar facilities in Germany and Beijing and is part of Lenovo’s plan to establish briefing sites in three major regional markets. The Stuttgart and Beijing locations are not yet open.
“The combination of our Stuttgart, Germany HPC innovation center, our near-term plans for the Stuttgart and Beijing Enterprise Briefing Centers and the opening of this center in Research Triangle Park allows us to better connect with and serve customers around the globe,” he said. “These resources will give clients first-hand experience with the future of enterprise technology.”
Lenovo is partnering with Intel (INTC), Samsung Semiconductor, QLogic and Emerson Network Power in the enterprise technology center effort.
