'Cloud Guru' Bernard Golden Takes on VP Role at enStratus
February 7, 2012
So-called “cloud guru” Bernard Golden, whose popular blog has the ears of many in the market, has landed at cloud management solution provider enStratus as its new vice president of Enterprise Solutions. In his new role, Golden will assist customers as they leverage enStratus products to take advantage of the cloud computing model.
Before he ended up at enStratus, Golden served as CEO of HyperStratus (“Stratus” much?), a Silicon Valley-based cloud integration and consulting firm that served customers including Korea Telecom and BMC Software. His other bonafides include authorship of “Virtualization for Dummies” and co-authorship of “Creating the Infrastructure for Cloud Computing.” His new employers at enStratus claims he’s also a mainstay of the conference keynote circuit the world over.
“Enterprises continually informed me about the challenges they face as they add public and private clouds to their IT infrastructure. The enStratus solution brings the critical governance and automation capabilities that enterprises require across all the leading clouds. I look forward to helping our customers meet this goal and to being part of the great team at enStratus,” the press release quotes Golden as saying.
As for the enStratus solution itself, according to the company it provides a “cloud infrastructure management solution for deploying and managing enterprise-class applications in public, private and hybrid clouds,” with a multi-cloud architecture that provides governance and automation. It includes support for the lion’s share of A-list cloud platforms, including Amazon Web Services, AT&T Synaptic Storage, Bluelock, Cloud Central, Cloud.com, CloudSigma, EMC Atmos, Eucalyptus, GoGrid, Google Storage, Nimbula, OpenStack, Rackspace, ServerExpress, Terremark, VMware and Windows Azure.
To be perfectly honest, enStratus has flown under the radar for some time now: the most TalkinCloud’s heard of it was when it partnered with Nimbula. But getting a channel veteran like Golden on board could mean the start of something big for the company, and we’ll be keeping a close eye.
