Gartner Debunks Top 10 Cloud Myths

Samsung Chooses Dropbox Over Google Cloud for Device Storage
Dropbox scored a win in the mobile device category. Samsung Electronics in September began shipping several of its mobile devices, including the new Galaxy Note 4, with Dropbox configured as the default cloud storage service.

IBM snagged the number one spot in the growing cloud services market, according to the 2014 Talkin’ Cloud 100, which ranks the world’s top cloud service providers, aggregators, brokers and more according to cloud revenues and other metrics. Companies on this annual list are ranked based on an internal formula that places heavy weighting on recurring cloud revenues.
Poll Results: Google Drive Price Reductions Not Cutting It
When Google slashed Drive pricing in March to make its cloud-based storage platform more affordable to users, Talkin’ Cloud polled its readers to find out if the price reduction would yank users away from competitors like Dropbox, Box and Egnyte. The results were close.

Microsoft Office 365 Customers Get Unlimited OneDrive Storage
Microsoft in October upped the ante in cloud storage, but only for a select group (granted, a rather large group) of customers. Microsoft took off the 1TB cap of OneDrive cloud storage available to its Office 365 customers, which now have unlimited cloud storage on both the vendor’s consumer and commercial flavors of the cloud storage-as-a-service offering.
Cisco Unveils WebEx Collaboration Meeting Room Service
Cisco Systems in March launched a Collaboration Meeting Room (CMR) service for WebEx at Cisco Live in San Francisco. WebEx solutions promote collaboration and information sharing, and CMRs build on the Cisco TelePresence video infrastructure and cloud-hosted WebEx Meeting Center capabilities.
Microsoft to Cut Online Services Advisory Partner Commission
