Google Brings Serverless Computing to Its Cloud Platform

Google has launched an alpha version of Google Cloud Functions, a “lightweight, event-based, asynchronous compute solution that allows [users] to create small, single-purpose functions that respond to cloud events.” Forbes reported Google Cloud Functions supports JavaScript functions that are executed within a managed Node.js runtime environment.

Cato Networks Unveils NSaaS Platform, Assigns New Americas Channel Chief

Network security company Cato Networks has launched Cato Cloud, a network security-as-a-service (NSaaS) platform. In addition, Cato Networks has named longtime channel executive Glenn Esposito as its vice president of sales, Americas.  

RightScale 2016 State of the Cloud Report Uncovers Cloud Adoption Trends

A new report from cloud management software provider RightScale revealed corporate cloud users are running applications in an average of 1.5 public clouds and 1.7 private clouds. The report also showed a of lack resources/expertise is the number one cloud challenge for corporate cloud users, followed by security. 

2nd Watch Survey: Enterprise IT Procurement Patterns Favor Cloud Technologies

2nd Watch’s new “Public Cloud Procurement: Packaging, Consumption and Management” survey of more than 400 IT professionals showed 89 percent of respondents said they use Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Compute Engine or Microsoft Azure. The survey also indicated 34 percent of respondents found that the process of buying, consuming and managing public cloud services was between somewhat and very difficult.

New Trustwave Report: Cybersecurity Pros Face Increased Pressures

In a new study from managed security service provider (MSSP) Trustwave, IT security professionals ranked the cloud first among emerging technologies they feel the most pressure to adopt or deploy. Respondents also named the cloud as the riskiest emerging technology.
