IBM Launches Open Source Projects for Cloud Developers
IBM has launched a platform for developers to collaborate with the company on open source technologies. Big Blue noted that it plans to release 50 projects to the open source community to “spur a new class of cloud innovations around mobile, analytics and other high-growth areas.”
EarthLink Leverages Private Cloud Networking for New Cloud Express Service
MSPmentor 501 honoree EarthLink has unveiled the Cloud Express service that is designed to speed up performance by enabling wide area network (WAN) users with a direct private connection to an ecosystem of cloud services providers (CSPs). EarthLink said the service eliminates network hops that can hurt performance and the user experience. The service also ensures greater security.
Dell CloudRunner Partnership Lets Managed Service Providers Ease SMBs into Cloud
Dell has released the CloudRunner cloud services platform for MSPs, a service that lets MSPs white label cloud, including desktop as a service and automate IT-as-a-service (ITaaS) management and billing, \, and deploy applications on virtual desktops.
Cazena Launches the Enterprise Big Data-as-a-Service for Cloud
Cazena has is jumping into the Big Data-as-a-Service market with a new release that lets users “securely and seamlessly extend the enterprise data center with trusted cloud infrastructure and multiple, best-of-breed big data technologies,” according to a prepared statement from the company.
IDC: Public Cloud Spending to Reach Nearly $70B Worldwide in 2015
IDC is predicting that public cloud spending will continue to rise in 2015 and beyond. The company’s new report said public cloud investments could reach almost $70 billion worldwide this year, with new opportunities becoming available from intelligent industry solutions built on platforms that include cloud, big data, analytics, mobile and social capabilities.
