A whopping two-thirds of businesses surveyed by Clutch said they plan to increase their cloud spending in 2017. Almost half of businesses expect their cloud spending to increase by 11 to 30 percent in 2017, while nearly 1 in 5 expect to increase by more than 30 percent.
Forty-seven percent of businesses said that increased costs are a challenge they have encountered with their cloud service provider in the past year.

Security is one of the top benefits of using the cloud, according to respondents, who said that increased efficiency (41 percent), data space (40 percent), flexibility (33 percent) and scalability (328 percent) were also top benefits of cloud computing.
While physical and infrastructure security are best left to the cloud experts, application-level security is more often the user’s responsibility, and without this part in place, breaches are likely to occur, Clutch says.
Private cloud is used by 68 percent of respondents, making it the most popular type of cloud computing. Hybrid cloud was used by 47 percent of respondents, with 37 percent using public cloud.
More than half of businesses surveyed (57 percent) said they use a consulting firm to help implement their cloud strategy, which supports the growth of this type of partner.

For as long as the cloud has been around, enterprises have been wary of it. The biggest roadblock preventing enterprises from adopting cloud for the longest time was security. Now it seems security has actually moved to the pro column. This is according to the Second Annual Cloud Computing Survey from Clutch, released this week.
