Wilmington, Delaware-based SECaaS provider My Digital Shield this week named Rick Green as its executive vice president of channel sales. Green previously served as vice president of sales at Voice Carrier, a VOIP reseller.

Poor Google. The company’s executives and cloud team tried so hard last year to make an impression and try to catch up to its biggest competitors in the overall public cloud market. Apparently it didn’t quite have the effect hoped for, though.
Asigra Cloud Backup Now Supports Docker Containers
Asigra is now officially supporting the Docker open-source platform. The Toronto-based cloud backup and recovery services company on Wednesday announced it has integrated Docker-based application backup and recovery into its Cloud Backup software.
IBM Opens First Cloud Data Center With SoftLayer in Germany
IBM on Wednesday announced the opening of a cloud data center with SoftLayer in Germany — a first for Big Blue. The new facility, located in Frankfurt, is designed to enable customers to meet German and European data security and sovereignty laws. The data center does this by improving application performance by lowering latency for local customers, the company said.
Are Cloud, Mobile Technologies Driving Federal IT Market Growth?
New research suggests that cloud computing, mobile technologies and virtualization tools will help the federal IT market grow over the next few years. Conducted by TechNavio, the study revealed that this market will expand at a 1.67 percent compound CAGR between 2014 and 2019.

If your Verizon-hosted cloud data and services are unavailable this weekend, you can blame an extended maintenance update. But at least be thankful that Verizon is giving plenty of notice for the downtime. Starting at 1:00 a.m. EST on Saturday morning, the Verizon Cloud team will begin a major upgrade to its IaaS offering.
