US Healthcare Cloud Market Could Be Worth More Than $3.5B by 2020
A new Frost & Sullivan report revealed that the U.S. healthcare cloud market generated $903.1 million in revenue last year. The study expects the market to top $3.5 billion by 2020.
The IT research firm said both the U.S. and European healthcare cloud markets are “in the growth phase” and expects more healthcare providers to invest in these markets over the next few years.
Study: 88 Percent of IT Admins Admit to Losing Customer Data
A CloudBerry Lab study reveals why IT professionals harping on customers backing up data on a regular basis might want to take a look in the mirror — especially when the majority of admins aren’t practicing what they’re preaching.
According to the report, which was conducted at AWS re:Invent 2014, 88 percent of IT professionals surveyed admitted to losing customer data — mainly due to hardware failure, data corruption, malware or accidental deletion of a file. But that’s not what might be most concerning.
Amazon Launches Compute-Intensive C4 EC2 Instances
Amazon Web Services is expanding the number of different instance types available on Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) with the announcement of the explosively-named C4 instance. Designed to be a compute-optimized instance on the EC2, the new C4 instance is aimed at customers with applications that require high levels of performance.
SAP Expands Certified Solutions on AWS
SAP and AWS have expanded on their existing partnership by enabling SMBs to leverage additional SAP-certified solutions on the AWS Cloud.
Headquartered in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, the enterprise application software solutions provider said its SMB customers now have the option to deploy and run SAP Business One, version for SAP HANA, on Amazon EC2 instances.
SysCloud Secures $2.5M in Funding to Accelerate Growth of Data Protection Suite for Google Apps
SysCloud has raised $2.5 million in funding for its data backup and security suite, a set of tools that provides channel partners with additional protection for data located in Google Apps through real-time backups, insights and security policies. Inventus Capital Partners led the Series A financing round, with participation from existing investor, KAE Capital. The additional funds bring the company’s total funding to date to $3.5 million.
Study: Channel Companies Expand Engagement With Cloud-Based Solutions
Channel companies seem to be more accepting of cloud computing’s role in the channel and the IT industry as a whole, but this change of heart doesn’t mean there isn’t more work to be done.
According to CompTIA’s “Fifth Annual Trends in Cloud Computing” report, which is based on survey responses from executives within IT companies and IT business professionals who are involved in IT decision-making for their organizations, more than 90 percent of channel firms believe their cloud solutions are “mature or somewhat mature.”
