Accenture has unveiled new management capabilities for its Cloud Platform that are designed to "give organizations the power and flexibility to manage their workloads simply, effectively and more securely across both on-premise private and public clouds."

Accenture has added management capabilities to its Cloud Platform that could make it easier for enterprises to leverage the cloud.

This multinational technology services giant today unveiled cloud integration options, unified billing analytics and other new features for its Cloud Platform that are designed to “give organizations the power and flexibility to manage their workloads simply, effectively and more securely across both on-premise private and public clouds.”

“Clients want flexible cloud management options that enable them to access services when and where they want. As such, the Accenture Cloud Platform’s proprietary discovery engine and exposed EC2-compatible application programming interfaces (APIs) provide users with the ability to access services through the Accenture Cloud Platform portal, or integrated directly through their own applications, or through the native cloud provider console,” Michael Liebow, the Accenture Cloud Platform’s global managing director, told Talkin’ Cloud.

The Accenture Cloud Platform provides enterprises with scalable, pay-as-you-go management of their IT infrastructure, according to Accenture. It also supports private and public cloud technology from numerous cloud services providers (CSPs), such as:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)

  • Cisco Systems (CSCO)

  • Microsoft Windows Azure

  • NTT Communications

Accenture added the platform’s new features include:

  • Application and platform blueprinting

  • Central monitoring of service usage and delivery

  • Fully automated, self-service delivery model

  • Management of on-premise private cloud solutions built on OpenStack and VMware vCloud Suite

“Cloud computing is essential to delivering the capabilities required by digital businesses, yet many enterprises struggle with managing separate cloud accounts and remain uncertain about moving both new workloads and legacy systems to the cloud,” Liebow said in a prepared statement. “The new, robust capabilities of the Accenture Cloud Platform help enterprises capitalize on the flexibility and agility of cloud, while enterprise-grade governance and control and enhanced security provide the peace of mind of traditional infrastructure.”

Accenture continues to invest in the cloud

Accenture is committed to the cloud, which is reflected in several of the company’s recent investments.

This technology services provider expanded its Cloud Platform earlier this year to support AWS, Azure and other infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) offerings.

Accenture also announced it would invest more than $400 million in cloud capabilities, technologies and training by 2015 “to focus on delivering the right cloud services from its network of providers, as well as blending its own industry solutions and innovations with third-party offerings.”
