Avaya, which offers an extensive range of business communications services, has wrapped its acquisition of Esna Technologies, the Canada-based collaboration and communications software provider.

Avaya expects that incorporating Esna’s line of products and services into its portfolio will help enterprises and midmarket companies adopt applications more quickly. The company says end users will easily be able to access voice, video, IM/presence, conferencing and messaging from within cloud-based business applications using almost any device.

An Esna-enabled Avaya Communicator Web client will be available for both Avaya’s IP Office (midmarket collaboration) and Aura (enterprise collaboration) platforms. Video and voice capabilities can be embedded into public or private cloud-based business apps. Avaya says its thin client helps improve engagement, productivity and mobility by reducing the disruption caused by shifting in and out of applications or changing devices. That means improved communication between businesses and their customers.

IT managers will be able to continue using their companies’ multi-vendor communications infrastructure and integrate new technologies from Avaya and other vendors into cloud-based applications. In addition, a thin client can speed the introduction and adoption of new technologies for more successful deployments, Avaya said.

“Esna and Avaya are building the future of collaboration experience – a future where communication is embedded directly into the applications, processes and workflows that drive how work gets done,” said Mohammad Nezarati, Esna CEO. “By uniting our strengths and resources, we’ll be able to offer truly innovative solutions that give companies real choice when it comes to the applications and devices they use to communicate and collaborate with their employees, customers and partners.”

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
