AVG Launches Android Console for CloudCare

AVG Technologies (AVG), owner of the Managed Workplace MSP platform, today said it’s extending AVG CloudCare‘s mobile management capabilities to Google (GOOG) Android users through a new administration console.

The new app gives Android administrators access to the same features available to users who have been running the Apple (AAPL) iOS version of the app, the company said.

Some of these features include being able to acknowledge customer alerts; remotely deploy services, such as antivirus, content filtering and online backup to customer devices via email; and access AVG CloudCare partner forums.

AVG Sales and Operations Vice President Luke Walling told MSPmentor that partner feedback from the new Android app has been consistent with the feedback from the iOS app.

“The feedback has been very good,” he said. “All the partners that have seen it pretty much had expectations that it would deliver the same features and functions that are available on the iOS app.”

Walling said channel partners have requested more features and functions from the app, and AVG is “listening very closely” to partner feedback, pointing out that channel partners can expect new enhancements down the road. 

“I think partners would like to see the full-blown CloudCare suite of functions, the whole platform, available on the mobile side, frankly,” he said.

During its Q4 2013 earnings call last week, AVG said its acquisition of Level Platforms in June 2013 was a contributing factor to year-over-year revenue growth.
