Cisco Systems (CSCO) will acquire Collaborate.com, a developer of a mobile collaboration application that provides unified document sharing, task management and team communication capabilities, the company announced today. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to a Cisco blog post today, the acquisition will assist the company with connecting mobile workers to mobile collaboration and cloud computing, aiming to capture the "market transition in mobility and cloud."
"As the rapidly developing mobility and cloud markets transform the technology landscape, the population of mobile workers looking to extend the boundaries of their offices continues to grow," Cisco Head of Corporate Business Development Hilton Romanski said.
The Collaborate platform integrates with email and third party cloud services to enable teams to integrate collaboration and communication into their enterprise workstream, which includes the creation of virtual collaboration rooms where teams can chat and share documents, notes, photos and videos.
Romanski concluded: "The Collaborate team will enhance our ability to deliver industry-leading solutions and unique value to our customers."
