Cloud Management: Abiquo Signs Global Hosting Providers
December 15, 2010
Abiquo says four new global hosting provider customers will leverage their Enterprise Edition solution for provisioning and managing their customers’ clouds. The hosting providers in question? BlackMesh, BlueFire, i2k2 Networks and Vivavo.
The concept behind Abiquo’s Enterprise Edition offering is this idea of “Enterprise Cloud Management.” Abiquo-managed clouds let hosting providers roll together network, compute, and storage resources and offer them to customers with the ability to choose their own virtual infrastructure, according to the press release.
Said Australia-based provider BlueFire CIO Jason Serda in a prepared statement:
“The combination of the Abiquo platform and IP developed in conjunction with our partners has enabled BlueFire to today provide a no compromise approach to give our customers complete flexibility to define their own environments – just like a physical datacenter, but without the need to maintain the infrastructure.”
MSPmentor, TalkinCloud’s sister blog, had already heard about the BlueFire deal, but it looks like Abiquo has made it official, or at least taking the opportunity to brag.
All four hosting providers chose Abiquo after rigorous internal (and independent) testing — at least, that’s according to Abiquo. Also, it sounds like i2k2 will use Abiquo Enterprise Edition to launch a whole new business: managed e-mail for Canada and India.
Abiquo built some hype for itself in 2010 with a $10 million round of funding and an announced intent to build its presence in the enterprise space. And it looks like they’re following through.
