Cloud Storage Gateway Nasuni Scores $15M in Funding

Nasuni, which bills itself as the leading provider of cloud gateways for the storage industry, has completed a $15 million round of Series B funding led by Flybridge Capital Partners. That brings Nasuni up to a reported $23 million in investment — and the company says the money’s going to fund further channel efforts.

The Nasuni Flier, the company’s flagship product, is a virtual appliance that delivers primary storage from any major cloud vendor (Like Amazon S3 or Microsoft Windows Azure) in a way that makes it indistinguishable from local storage. The idea, according to Nasuni’s press release, is to eliminate file server migrations and the need for backups.

Also participating in the just-ended round of funding were existing Nasuni investors North Bridge Venture Partners and Sigma Partners. And under the deal, Chip Hazard, a General Partner at Flybridge Capital Partners, will be joining Nasuni Board of Directors.

“We are now working with partners to leverage our sales capability. The time for utility storage has arrived and Nasuni is rushing to help companies make the transition,” said Nasuni CEO Andres Rodriguez in a prepared statement.
