CloudBerry Lab Announces CloudBerry Backup 3.4

Backup and management solutions for public cloud storage services vendor CloudBerry Lab has released a new version of CloudBerry Backup adding new capabilities for scheduled and real time backups to any FTP or Secure FTP.

CloudBerry Backup aims to automate encrypted and compressed data backup directly to public cloud storage such as Amazon S3, Amazon Glacier, Windows Azure, HP Cloud, Rackspace or OpenStack. The upgrade, CloudBerry Backup 3.4, includes the  FTP and Secure FTP server backup storage options.

“Now many small and mid-sized companies are starting to look at offsite backup as at the must-have element of a secure and reliable data protection and disaster recovery strategy, but cost and complexity often stop them from actual implementation,” said CloudBerry Lab CTO Alexey Serkov via email. “Backup 3.4 along with ability to setup regular backups to a wide range of public cloud storage services now also allows them to leverage FTP and SFTP servers as an offsite storage. We believe that gives SMBs flexibility in implementing secure and cost-effective offsite backup and disaster recovery strategy.”

CloudBerry Backup version 3.4 also includes a local backup functionality that the company says has been improved to perform much faster. Backup status notification messages and copy backup plans can be attributed to specific email address. In addition, it protects the backup client GUI from unauthorized access with a master password.

This backup solution is available in a Desktop Edition that costs $29.99, a Server Edition that costs $79.99, and an Enterprise Edition that costs $299.99 for a single license. CloudBerry Backup for MS SQL Server license is also available for $149.99.

CloudBerry Lab’s new update builds on the company’s efforts in March to help to help MSPs back up Microsoft’s (NASDAQ: MSFT) SQL Server database to a variety of public clouds — including Amazon S3, Amazon Glacier, Windows Azure, HP Cloud, Rackspace or OpenStack.
