Authorities in Florida won’t pursue charges against the co-founder of ConnectWise, the provider of business management software, due to “innacurate reporting from the arresting officer.”

That news comes from the Hillsborough (Florida) County State’s Attorney’s Office, just four days after David Bellini, president of ConnectWise International, was arrested at his home in Tampa.

A spokesman at the Hillsborough County Clerk’s Office says the case is closed.

“The Florida Department of Law Enforcement Crime Laboratory confirmed that details relating to Mr. Bellini’s arrest were inaccurately reported by the arresting officer,” said Bellini’s attorney Todd Foster, in a statement. The arrest report states Bellini was in possession of 24.1 grams of heroin and fentanyl when he was taken into custody.

Bellini has struggled with chronic pain resulting in abuse of prescription and non-prescription pain medications, according to a statement ConnectWise released Tuesday.

“David has been suffering chronic pain for several years and has unfortunately fallen prey to overuse of these substances, resulting in potential charges — the outcome of which we cannot predict,” read the statement.

Bellini took an indefinite leave of absence from the company after news of his arrest broke. Greg Lalle, VP of international sales, will continue in his role as the executive sales leader for the division. As of Thursday afternoon, there was no statement from the company regarding the dropped charges or forthcoming changes to the ConnectWise executive leadership team.

Bellini’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
