Disaster recovery solution specialist Continuity Software has launched RecoverGuard 5.2, the new version of their flagship product. New to this release is a Private Cloud Advisor targeted at helping customers ensure availability and compliance with best practices in the private cloud. Here’s the scoop.

According to Continuity Software’s press release, RecoverGuard is an end-to-end data recovery and vulnerability detection solution for physical and virtual environments. The company boasts that where competitors only sport 20-30 static rules for risk detection, RecoverGuard uses 4,000 in a dynamically, auto-updated database. And this new release brings support for the HP StorageWorks XP storage platform – which Continuity says makes RecoverGuard compatible with all enterprise-class data center platforms.

The concept behind the release, Continuity says, is to give administrators better visibility into their disaster recovery planning, application-specific recovery, and SLAs, verifying the correct placement of VMs for when the worst happens.
