Dell Updates HCI Portfolio with VCE, VMware Offerings
Dell added a slew of offerings to its hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) portfolio this week, as the company looks to help customers speed up their enterprise deployments.

Dell added a slew of offerings to its hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) portfolio this week, as the company looks to help customers speed up their enterprise deployments. The expanded portfolio includes several offerings from VCE and VMware (VMW) as well as the addition of Nutanix-powered systems to the Dell XC Series.
Dell said the additions to its portfolio signify the company’s commitment to providing customers with multiple options to begin utilizing hyper-converged infrastructure solutions. For channel partners, this also means a multitude of ways to sell products to customers and, in turn, profit from the growing HCI market, which is expected to become a $4 billion market by 2019, according to IDC.
“At the end of the day, no other IT vendor can come close to our HCI solution arsenal,” said Travis Vigil executive director of Product Management, Dell Enterprise Solutions Group. “We know that one size fits none.”
Straight from the press release, the new solutions available as part of Dell’s hyper-converged infrastructure portfolio include:
VCE VxRail Appliance Family – the industry’s only hyper-converged infrastructure appliances jointly engineered with VMware that are fully integrated and preconfigured for VMware environments, according to Dell. The VCE VxRail Appliances are available in several different configurations and are listed at a starting price of $60,000.
VCE VxRack Node and VxRack System 1000 FLEX – allows customers to move data from local Storage Area Networks to hyper-converged systems.
Dell Reference Architecture for EMC Converged Infrastructure – allows customers to deploy a VxRack architecture using Dell PowerEdge servers.
Dell VMware Virtual SAN Ready Nodes – allows Dell customers to utilize ready-to-order validated configurations for their infrastructure that can be integrated with Dell PowerEdge servers and VMware hyperconverged software.
Dell XC Series of Hyper-Converged Appliances – Dell is the first company to offer Nutanix-powered hyper-converged infrastructure solutions coupled with the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v4 Broadwell Product Family, according to the announcement. Dell said this translates to faster performance and scalability for their customers.
Dell Hybrid Cloud Platform for VMware with Virtual SAN – combines Dell’s Active System Manager solution with VMware vCenter, vRealize and Virtual SAN into a single private and hybrid cloud platform. Dell said the addition of vSAN also allows users access to prescriptive guidance for building clouds using hyper-converged software.
VCE VxRail, VCE VxRack Node, Dell VMware Virtual SAN Ready Nodes and the new Dell XC Series appliances are currently available today globally both directly and through Dell channel partners. VCE VxRack System 1000 FLEX is also available directly from Dell in the US, according to the announcement. The remaining solutions are scheduled for global release during Q2 2016.
