Dell World 2014: Dell Announces Cloud Application Marketplace Beta
Dell Cloud Marketplace, a platform that enables users to evaluate, purchase and manage cloud solutions, is now available in a public beta in the United States. Participants can use the service on infrastructures including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform and Joyent public cloud infrastructure services.

Participants can use the service on infrastructures including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform and Joyent public cloud infrastructure services.
Dell said the marketplace is “a self-service portal” that gives developers agility and functionality in the cloud and provides IT managers with control of their organizations’ cloud services. Dell announced the beta at Dell World 2014 in Austin, Texas,
“Developers benefit from the ease of multi-cloud purchases and the immediate use of cloud services. IT managers benefit from the governance, secure management and single billing of multiple cloud services,” Nnamdi Orakwue, Dell’s vice president of software strategy for operations and cloud, said in a prepared statement.
A recent Dell survey revealed 97 percent of IT decision makers currently are using or plan to leverage the cloud.

Dell announces three partnerships
Dell also announced partnerships with Delphix, Docker and Pertino. Here’s a breakdown of what each partnership means for Dell:
Delphix — Dell said it is working with Delphix to provide “seamless data management across both public and hybrid cloud environments.”
Docker — The Dell-Docker partnership is designed to help developers reduce the amount of time it takes to create and maintain an application’s infrastructure.
Pertino — Pertino will allow Dell to deliver secure, private networks across any cloud.
Dell said it plans to offer the Delphix, Docker and Pertino solutions via the Dell Cloud Marketplace next year.
Dell releases Foglight APM SaaS Edition

Foglight APM SaaS Edition can help developers analyze applications, determine the root cause of slow performance and identify areas of improvement and optimization with their apps, according to Dell.
Dell is offering Foglight APM SaaS Edition and its full feature set for free through the end of the year.
