DNAnexus Taps Ex-AWS Exec Omar Serang as Chief Cloud Officer
Cloud-based DNA data management and analysis solution specialist DNAnexus has tapped former Amazon Web Services (AWS) employee Omar Serang as the company’s first chief cloud officer.
Cloud-based DNA data management and analysis specialist DNAnexus has tapped former Amazon Web Services (AWS) executive Omar Serang as the company’s first chief cloud officer.
Sergan will be responsible for product development roadmaps and managing compliance and integration efforts that enable enterprise customers to deploy the DNAnexus platform. He will also evaluate, design, and implement cloud security and governance features.
At AWS Sergan developed the Enterprise Cloud Transformation consulting practice. In this role he designed and deployed cloud architectures for Fortune 100 customers and provided roadmap guidance to AWS service teams.
CEO of DNAnexus Richard Daly said in his prepared statement that Seran's expertise will help customers' enterprise customers adopt cloud-based strategies.
"As we work to expand our base of customers to include large R&D operations in commercial and research settings, Omar’s valuable technical skills and deep understanding of cloud-based technologies will be indispensable in helping enterprise users realize value from the full operational and analytical power of the DNAnexus platform," he said.
"There is tremendous potential at the intersection of big genomic data and distributed cloud infrastructures," said Serang in a prepared statement.
