Rewind to the HP Americas Partner Conference in March 2011. At the time The VAR Guy heard rumors that Hewlett-Packard Executive VP Ann Livermore would soon exit the company but join HP’s board as executive chairwoman. Well, the rumors were true — partly. Livermore is moving out and up but apparently didn’t get the rumored chairwoman title. Here’s the update along with several other changes at HP.According to an official statement from HP:
Ann Livermore has been elected to the HP board. Her election reflects the success of her career as one of the IT industry’s most talented and respected executives. … Livermore will continue to serve as interim lead for HP Enterprise Services and sponsor certain key accounts until a new services leader is named.
Also, HP CEO Leo Apotheker gains several new direct reports. They include:
Dave Donatelli, executive vice president, Enterprise Servers, Storage, Networking and Technology Services
Bill Veghte, executive vice president, Software
Jan Zadak, executive vice president, Global Sales
Also of note: Chief Administrative Officer Pete Bocian and Chief Information Officer Randy Mott are departing immediately. Bocian had run real estate operations and Mott — a veteran of Wal-Mart and Dell — is a data center consolidation guru. The VAR Guy wonders: Why is Mott leaving at a time when HP is preparing to launch its own public cloud? Very interesting timing.
But back to the story at hand — Apotheker gains more direct reports. And Ann Livermore — once a candidate for HP’s CEO post — moves up and out of day-to-day functions at HP. The VAR Guy will be watching to see if Livermore ever scores the executive chairwoman title on HP’s board…
