Hyve Solutions, IBM Partner on Midmarket Big Data Analytics

Hyve Solutions wants its midmarket customers to take full advantage of Hadoop-based Big Data analytics, and has teamed up with IBM (NYSE: IBM) to do it.

Hyve Solutions, a division of SYNNEX Corp. (NYSE: SNX), has entered into a software licensing agreement with IBM to provide Big Blue’s InfoSphere BigInsights software with the Hyve’s “BigD” hardware family.

The IBM-Hyve Solutions partnership gives an enterprise-level, Big Data services to midmarket customers looking to implement Hadoop-based analytics without complicated rollouts. According to Hyve, the Series2 and Series8 BigD offerings address that need and deploy faster and easier than traditional Hadoop implementations.

“Hyve Solutions clients can now take advantage of IBM’s Big Data analytics software to analyze up to hundreds of terabytes of data using our affordable and highly optimized solutions,” said Steve Ichinaga, senior vice president and general manager, Hyve Solutions, in a prepared statement. “Ultimately, our midmarket clients want to use Big Data for a competitive advantage and to boost their bottom line.”

IBM developed InfoSphere BigInsights to provide Apache Hadoop to enterprise customers. The software enables users to perform “advanced analytics on data in its native form, optimize workloads, and apply security and governance to Big Data.”

IBM and Hyve Solutions also collaborated on the midmarket Big Data solution with Zettaset to provide service management, failover and restart, and alerting and monitoring features, as well as with Fusion-io for high data throughput and scalability for the BigD Series8 cluster.

Last month Hyve Solutions and Zettaset launched a partnership to produce a joint-implementation of Apache Hadoop built on an enterprise-level platform and operating system. The collaboration united Zettaset Orchestrator, a Hadoop Big Data management platform that runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2, with Hyve Solutions’ data center servers.
