iland Launches Cloud Compliance Service

iland has released a cloud service that monitors and reports on compliance rules related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other regulatory requirements.

The Houston-based MSPmentor 501 honoree said the new service provides compliance summaries, event histories and other on-demand reports.

iland noted that the service drives compliance with various regulatory requirements, including:

  • SSAE 16 – SOC 2 (Trust Service Principles)

  • Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard v3 (PCI DSS v3)

  • Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP)

  • National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)

  • Information security standard ISO 27001

In addition, iland is offering “compliance assurances” in a number of areas, such as:

  • Antivirus and malware detection

  • Accelerated storage with encryption at rest

  • Whole disk encryption

  • Event history, including log inspection and access logs

  • Support requests

iland also is providing customers with access to an in-house team of certified compliance professionals who can help them meet compliance requirements.

“Many cloud service providers have given a nod to compliance through extremely patchy reporting and alerting without really addressing the issue,” iland Chief Technology Officer Justin Giardina said in a prepared statement. “That is only half the battle. At iland, we recognize that it takes both compliance focused features and reporting in addition to an in-house compliance team to provide our customers with real peace of mind in today’s complicated regulatory environment.”

The cloud compliance service could help iland better protect its customers and provide support in new verticals as well.

For example, leveraging HIPAA-compliant software is becoming increasingly important for healthcare providers worldwide.

A recent healthcare provider survey from document management and delivery solutions provider Scrypt revealed 81 percent of respondents said they used HIPAA-compliant software to prevent HIPAA breaches.
