Distributor Ingram Micro (IM) is expanding on the success of its cloud services portfolio by expanding globally to include approximately 170 countries. Additionally, Ingram Micro Cloud is being transitioned to a worldwide services organization that will specialize locally and scale globally to accelerate cloud services adoption.
The new business unit is being led by Nimesh Dave, executive vice president of Global Cloud Computing at Ingram Micro. The unit represents Ingram Micro’s cloud services business.
“Ingram Micro’s proven expertise, experience and ability to execute as a master cloud services aggregator has accelerated our success and positioned us as one of the Top 100 cloud providers,” said Dave in a prepared statement. “Ingram Micro’s recent acquisition of SoftCom and adoption of a best-in-class automation platform also serve as significant growth catalysts that will further enable us to scale our cloud services success globally.”
The Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace is at the center of the strategy. First launched in North America, the transactional online marketplace for channel partners and IT professionals is intended to help them educate themselves, browse, buy, deploy and manage a suite of Ingram Micro cloud services. The marketplace represents more than 200 solutions from 70 vendors.
Ingram Micro has plans to adopt a global platform built to enhance the marketplace’s capabilities and introduce a new series of cloud management services.
“The global opportunity around cloud services continues to grow rapidly as businesses and consumers move to anywhere, anytime secure computing,” Dave said. “As a global organization, Ingram Micro Cloud is strategically aligned with the future of technology, as well as to channel partners and IT professionals that want to simplify, scale and successfully sell cloud services.”
