Intermedia claims to be the world’s largest independent Microsoft Exchange hosting service provider — so it’s no wonder that they’re looking to streamline self-service management for their SMB customers. The new release of the Intermedia HostPilot Control panel for gives their hosted services customers the ability to change their own passwords, enable call forwarding, and get SMS service status updates. Here’s the scoop.
The real theme of the Intermedia HostPilot update, as you may have guessed, is streamlining and enhancing the experience for end-users and administrators alike, according to the press release.
It goes beyond just changing passwords and other settings for Microsoft Exchange/Outlook: If you’re a user of Intermedia UC services like hosted PBX or Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS), you’ll get the ability to set up “Find Me/Follow Me” call forwarding and instant messaging with no other authentication, respectively.
And on the administrator side, HostPilot’s Exchange interface has been revamped to be more intuitive and require less clicks to perform common tasks like add a user or mailbox. And in the event of maintenance or service interruption, admins can choose to be notified on the HostPilot landing page, by e-mail, or by text message.
