Internap Launches Agile Hosting Based on Voxel Technology
April 30, 2012
IT infrastructure firm Internap (NASDAQ: INAP) released its automated, high performance Agile Hosting services for general availability. An online configurator, Agile Hosting allows enterprise customers to customize and provision both on-premise and cloud-based IT Infrastructure to meet increasing application demands.
The Agile platform is built off of Voxel’s unified dedicated and cloud hosting technologies resulting from Internap’s acquisition of the firm in December 2011. At the time, Talkin’ Cloud commented on Internap’s lack of growth, and asked whether Voxel could boost its prospects. While that remains to be seen, partners at the time of the purchase were upbeat about their combined future. Talkin’ Cloud will keep watching Internap’s performance.
Agile Hosting leverages Internap’s Performance IP service, which uses managed Internet route optimizer (MIRO) technology to boost application performance. According to Internap, Agile Hosting can quickly provision bare-metal implementations, providing “cloud-like flexibility” from onsite servers. The service is “hybridized,” permitting virtual and physical servers to meet application needs together.
Pricing for Agile Hosting depends on configuration; hourly pricing is available.
