Want to know just how big the cloud services market is? Want to know how much it has changed in the last 12 months? You can find these answers and much, much more about the cloud services space over on our sister site Talkin’ Cloud, where we’ve just published the 2014 edition of the Talkin’ Cloud 100, which ranks the world’s top cloud service providers, aggregators, brokers and more according to cloud revenues and other metrics.
To whet your appetite, here are a few tidbits about this year’s report:
IBM (IBM) unseated Salesforce.com (CRM) for the top position on the list.
The Top 100 CSPs generated more than $23.4 billion in combined cloud services revenues in 2013, up 48 percent from what they reported the previous year.
About 78 percent of the ranked companies leverage IaaS platforms/service providers, and the most commonly used provider is Amazon Web Services (EC2) (33 percent), followed by Microsoft Windows Azure (23 percent).
Companies use a wide variety of SaaS solutions. The most commonly leveraged provider is Microsoft Office 365 (45 percent).
The most commonly leveraged PaaS platforms/service providers were Amazon Web Services (25 percent), followed by Microsoft Windows Azure (21 percent), and Google App Engine (16 percent).
