Lucidworks is aiming to make Big Data searches as simple as Googling with the launch of a new platform, Fusion, that implements and extends the open source Apache Solr search framework.
Fusion represents a revamping of Lucidworks' platform for integrating search tools into applications. Foremost among the new features in the product is compatibility with Solr, allowing enterprises "to overlay Lucidworks search and discovery on their existing Solr configuration," according to the company.
Fusion also provides analytics features, Big Data discovery and importation tools that can connect to a variety of database types, machine learning and natural language search, Lucidworks said.
Lucidworks has tailored the Big Data search platform for the enterprise, and already reports Sears, Verizon, ADP, Raytheon, Qualcomm, Ford, MapR, eHarmony and Cisco Systems among its customer base.
The product launch is accompanied by a reconfiguration within the company's executive staff. Will Hayes, who served previously as director of Business Development at Splunk, is the new CEO of Lucidworks, and Keith Massick, previously of SuccessFactors, Get Satisfaction and Topsy, has become chief marketing officer.
