Yes, the Microsoft cloud strategy will both compete and cooperate with managed services providers and managed hosting providers. But how and why did Microsoft decide to compete — in some cases — with partners? Our sister site, TalkinCloud, found the answer within a recent keynote speech from Microsoft GM Bill Staples. To be clear: Microsoft generates 95 percent of its revenues through the channel, so I think the company remains committed to channel partners. But there’s going to be some stress as partners sort out their cloud relationships with Microsoft. To understand Microsoft’s cloud mindset listen closely to Staples’ thoughts. That’s all I’ve got to say about that.
