N-able partners who use N-able Backup Manager will be treated to a slew of new features designed to help them make the leap further into virtualization and cloud services.

The latest version of N-able Backup Manager includes support for virtualization that includes the ability for MSPs to do backups at the host level and do migrations to on-premise and off-premise virtual machines with “minimal risk,” said Steve Fairbanks, VP of Product Management at CA Technologies, whose ArcServe D2D offering powers N-able Backup Manager.

“We’ve done some huge leaps forward in terms of virtualization,” he said, noting other features including granular restore capabilities, virtual standby, unlimited guest VM protection and full system replication.

Backup Manager, which was unveiled at the 2011 N-able Partner Summit in Scottsdale, Ariz., also includes myriad features that support cloud services, including a common cloud connector to connect to both public and private cloud environments. The latest version supports the Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure public clouds and private clouds using VPN or HTTPS connections or the Eucalyptus standard.

A new Copy to Cloud feature enables MSPs to copy and/or archive files to a disk or a cloud environment and set retention times as well as maximum number of file versions, while the replication feature works with both private or public clouds.

“Regardless of whether you want to go with file protection or a full backup image, we’ve got you covered,” Fairbanks said.

The latest version of Backup Manager is available now, and N-able plans to have integration with the latest version of N-central by Q1 of 2012, according to the company.
