NetEvidence, the UK-based vendor best known for their Highlight network and application monitoring tool, has launched an update that helps MSPs help customers view exactly what’s going on with their cloud services. The company is billing the newly-cloudy Highlight as a way for cloud service providers from Tier 1 all the way down to “boutique VARs” to differentiate their offerings.

A major part of that value, according to NetEvidence, is to provide visual representations of how well SLAs are being met. It’s especially a boon when demonstrating the value proposition of a new service like hosted applications. It even works if you’re a supplementary cloud provider — NetEvidence boasts that it grants easy-to-read metrics for every link in the cloud supply chain.

Significantly, NetEvidence says that as services move to the cloud, service providers may find themselves with a fragmented offering, reselling VoIP from one provider, CRM from another, and so on. But NetEvidence says that Highlight can unify them into a single view, so customers understand exactly what the service provider is doing for them.

Obviously, it’s a lot of hype. But all the same, I can’t say that NetEvidence doesn’t make a compelling case for showing customers exactly what they’re getting for their cloud investment.
