OnApp has announced the availability of OnApp for VMware vCloud Director, a web and mobile portal that allows service providers to manage their VMware (VMW)-based clouds.
The new portal will also allow users to provision and bill for services and provide users with access to the latest vCloud Director features via a customized and user-branded web, iOS and Android portal, according to the announcement. OnApp for vCloud Director will support all the features released in vCloud Director 5.6, such as VM monitoring and storage profiles.
“We are excited to have OnApp as a partner,” said Geoff Waters, vice president of Service Provider Channel, Cloud Services Business Unit, VMware, in a statement. “OnApp’s Portal for vCloud Director offers vCloud Air Network partners strong capability to accelerate deployment of their VMware based hybrid cloud environments by enabling consumption of a rich set of vCloud Director features via the user interface.”
As of last year, all new vCloud Director functionality has been available only through APIs and third-party user interfaces under the virtualization giant’s ISV Partner Ecosystem program, according to OnApp. The company’s new web and mobile portal is the second product to support VMware installations, including the addition of vCenter support to the OnApp cloud platform.
OnApp for vCloud Director is available now, with licensing based on VMware’s existing points system. OnApp is also offering a fully featured free version of the program with up to 16GB of vRAM for pilot clouds and SMB cloud deployments looking to try before they buy. Additionally, the portal will be on display next month during VMware’s Partner Exchange event in San Francisco.
