OnApp will provide users with its new web and mobile portal for VMware vCloud Director for free for six months through a new promotion. The infrastructure-as-a-service provider will give new users access to the portal until Aug. 1 with deployment, configuration and 24×7 support included.
OnApp for vCloud Director offers a rebrandable cloud management and provisioning environment for service providers using VMware (VMW) vCloud Director. The portal is designed to help service providers to expand their range of services to include open source cloud services, CDN services and additional global reseller capabilities through the OnApp Federation.
“More than 3,000 providers in 90 countries run their clouds on OnApp software, and an estimated one in three public clouds are now powered by OnApp,” said Narendar Shankar, president of OnApp USA, in a statement. “Our free six-month promotion makes it easy for the global vCloud Director customer base to realize the benefits of intuitive web and mobile cloud management, too, and with free deployment and support it’s super-easy to get started.”
OnApp users will be able to purchase access to the web portal after the trial period is over. Pricing will be based on VMware’s points system, according to the press release.
VMware announced that all new vCloud Director functionality would be accessible only through third-party portals after the release of vCloud Director 5.6, opening the door for companies such as OnApp to bring their own solutions to market.
Other solution providers are also expected to announce similar portals this week during VMware Partner Exchange 2015 in San Francisco.
