Orange Business Services, the service provider arm of France Telecom-Orange, has announced that its cloud strategy acceleration has paid off with more than 3,600 customers opting in. In fact, Orange reported that in 2011, cloud computing contributed its fair share toward its goal of €500 million in revenue by 2015.

The breakdown goes something like this: According to the company, 110 customers are using the Orange Business Services Flexible Computing Express infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), which launched in October 2011. Meanwhile, 2,500 smaller businesses are using Cloud Pro, Orange’s SaaS solution set.

Oh, there’s a nice bonus for TalkinCloud readers in that press release as Vivek Badrinath, CEO of Orange Business Services, talked up the importance the channel has played in his company’s cloud growth:

“Without a completely reliable, high-performance infrastructure, the cloud can’t live up to its promises. We’re capable of delivering this end-to-end quality of service. As the convergence of IT and telecoms continues to deepen, our collaboration with over 100 technology partners further enriches our ability to offer integrated cloud services with powerful performance.”

As a refresher, in addition to Cloud Pro and Flexible Computing Express, Orange also offers cloud UC (Business Together as a Service) and managed Microsoft Office 365 productivity (Office Together). And while it sounds like Orange’s primary business remains in France, it’s made partnerships to extend its cloud reach to the entire world.

We’ll continue to watch Orange Business Services and the international cloud market as a whole, so keep watching TalkinCloud.
