Secure information exchange solution vendor GlobalSCAPE has partnered with Rackspace Hosting to deliver their managed file transfer (MFT) products through the cloud. Here’s the skinny.

The Texas-based GlobalSCAPE says in their press release that by leveraging Rackspace’s infrastructure, they can provide SMBs with secure file-transfer solutions while also reducing their infrastructure costs.

While the first cloud-based GlobalSCAPE MFT products won’t be available until July 2010, they have plenty on their plate providing customers like the US government and 95 of the Fortune 100 with existing solutions like their Enhanced File Transfer Server.

This announcement largely speaks for itself, with few other details available at this juncture, but I wanted to call attention to a prescient quote from the release:

“We expect hosted services will be a significantly increasing part of our business in the second half of the year and in the coming years,” said GlobalSCAPE President and CEO Jim Morris.
