SherWeb Acquires Thoughtbus to Expand Cloud Offering
SherWeb is acquiring Thoughtbus, a privately-held brand of Nomia Inc, that offers hosted Microsoft (MSFT) Exchange, SharePoint, Lync Server, CRM and mobile solutions for businesses with anywhere from 3 to 1,000 users.
SherWeb is acquiring Thoughtbus, a privately-held brand of Nomia Inc, to further expand SherWeb’s cloud offering. The financial terms of the deal were not made public.
SherWeb co-founder and CEO Peter Cassar said acquiring Thoughtbus, a company that offers hosted Microsoft (MSFT) Exchange, SharePoint, Lync Server, CRM and mobile solutions for businesses with anywhere from 3 to 1,000 users, “made a lot of sense for SherWeb.
“SherWeb is extremely dedicated to its partner channel,” he said. “We employ an entire team of professionals who are solely dedicated to helping partners succeed in the marketplace.”
SherWeb said the company intends to maintain the Thoughtbus platform in the near-term to accomodate Thoughtbus customers and partners.
Cassar said Thoughtbus partners “will now have access to an expanded set of hosted services that they will be able to resell, such as Microsoft Hosted Exchange 2013, Hosted Sharepoint 2013, as well as infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS) solutions.”
Additionally, Thoughbus partners will be able to leverage SherWeb’s partner program, which, according to Cassar, is “very financially compelling and provides a huge amount of partner support, all the way from pre-sales, sales, support and operations.”
“Thoughtbus’ move to the SherWeb platform was a logical step as the cloud hosting environment has been getting intensely competitive over the years,” Geoff Citron, founder and president of Nomia Inc., Thoughtbus’ parent company, said in a prepared statement. “However, our main focus is and has always been around our customers and partners.”
Citron continued: “We want them to not only adopt a hosting provider that shares our commitment to meeting organizations’ individual needs but also to get the best value for technology, scale and service that the market has to offer.”
Cassar told Talkin’ Cloud that “SherWeb is definitely on the lookout for other acquisition opportunities” to “continually expand the business.”
SherWeb partners will not be affected by this acquisition, the company said.
SherWeb rolled out a new email product suite a month ago to assist businesses looking to stay compliant with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and protect data.
