Tasty: Mushroom Networks Launches QoS Truffle Appliance
March 30, 2012
Broadband technology firm Mushroom Networks has released a Quality of Service (QoS) version of its Truffle broadband appliance. Designed for business, government and data centers, Truffle allows users to bond up to 12 Internet connections into a “single virtual broadband pipe.” Truffle can service various connection forms including T1, fiber, DSL and cable and does not require coordination with the ISP or local networks.
Cahit Akin, CEO of Mushroom Networks, noted in the release announcing Truffle:
“It optimizes traffic flows for businesses with a variety of application needs, from real-time VoIP to cloud-based SaaS applications both in inbound and outbound directions. The QoS are implemented dynamically, and intelligently utilizes unused bandwidth for lower priority traffic if the high-priority applications are not running or there is simply available bandwidth. It provides a granular way of improving the quality of service through application prioritization, monitoring and shaping that gives companies a controlled, secure, and redundant WAN connection. This product enhancement further cements our status as the innovation leader in Broadband Bonding and WAN virtualization.”
Enhanced features of the Truffle QoS version include:
Enhanced controls via the application-aware layer allowing visibility, filtering and classification of traffic.
Classification of traffic: Priority levels can be set, involving classifications of mission-critical traffic, control of cloud-based business applications and priority levels for each user, application and data flows.
Custom shaping of traffic to guarantee bandwidth for applications, in addition to blocking harmful or unnecessary traffic.
Graphical visibility: The presentation layer allows users to see application traffic, network characteristics and performance profiles.
The new Truffle version is available through select channels. Channel partners can click here to find out about Mushroom Network’s partner program.
