Trend Micro Brings Deep Security Solution for vCloud Online

Trend Micro released a new solution designed to allow VMware (VMW) vCloud Hybrid Service users to securely move their on-premise or private cloud deployments to the public cloud. With Trend Micro Deep Security, the security software provider hopes to reduce the cost and complexity of enterprise storage for users by offering a platform with security controls to manage their physical, virtual and cloud environments.

"As VMware introduces new cloud capabilities, we are expanding our relationship to further align our efforts to extend customers' security capabilities so they can leverage the ROI of the cloud with confidence that data will remain safe," said Partha Panda, vice president of Global Channels and Strategic Alliances at Trend Micro, in a prepared statement. "This offering delivers on-premise-style security in hybrid cloud environments without compromising performance or productivity."

With Deep Security for vCloud Hybrid Service, customers can extend their on-premise security to their cloud workloads. Deep Security utilizes native interoperability with VMware vCloud Director and additional VMware technologies so system admins can automatically detect virtual machines and apply context-based policies to them for consistent security across the data center and into the public cloud, according to Trend Micro. Deep Security users also will be able to utilize features such as virtual patching, which shields the virtual machines from vulnerabilities to decrease risk and reduce patch management work.

"Security is a priority for our customers as they migrate to the public cloud from on-premise or hybrid environments," said Ajay Patel, vice president, vCloud Hybrid Service, VMware. "With the Trend Micro Deep Security solution on VMware vCloud Hybrid Service, customers can now seamlessly extend their security policies from on-premise to cloud and benefit from advanced threat protection for their hybrid workloads."

Trend Micro is promising its customers that the new Deep Security solution will enable them to protect their sensitive enterprise data while utilizing intrusion detection, anti-malware software and a suite of other preventative measures to protect against outside attacks. The company also expects users to benefit from accelerated return on investment of their virtualization and cloud initiatives with the new service.
