Veeam Availability Suite has been added to IBM Cloud for VMware Solutions’ growing solutions and services portfolio. Yes, you heard it right: Users can now back up and replicate their VMware workloads running on VMware Cloud Foundation and vCenter Server environments running in IBM Cloud.
VMware Cloud Foundation is the market-leading VMware hyperconverged solution that automates deployment and lifecycle management of a fully validated VMware stack (compute, network and storage). IBM Cloud automates the deployment process, which reduces the time from months to hours and drastically simplifies the path to hybrid cloud.
Integration of Veeam backup and replication deployment gives customers full administrative access to Veeam console, allowing them to consume Veeam to its maximum ability. Utilization of Veeam Enterprise Plus license allows users the ability to use key features such as Veeam One, built-in WAN acceleration, unlimited extents scale-out repository, self-service file restore portal for application owners, and more.
This integration will allow users to not only back up their data locally within the Cloud Foundation environment, but also send data offsite to another IBM Cloud data center or to an on-premise environment. In addition, customers will be able to leverage IBM Cloud network backbone to keep their data transfer cost to a minimum, resulting in a very cost-effective offsite backup and replication solution.
