Verizon (VZ) is offering its customers a secure, private connection to the IBM (IBM) Cloud with its Secure Cloud Interconnect services which allow users to easily move workloads between clouds.

With the addition of IBM, Verizon’s Secure Cloud Interconnect offers access to eight cloud providers, and three data center providers at more than 50 global locations, Verizon said.

According to Thursday’s announcement, the private link to IBM cloud allows Verizon’s enterprise clients to store data in a “variety of settings, including a traditional IT environment, a dedicated on- or-off premises cloud and a shared off-premises cloud making it easier to scale and meet business requirements.”

Users will also gain more agility over their connectivity to cloud environments with Software Defined Networking capabilities, which include consumption-based bandwidth and controlled application performance, Verizon said.

“Verizon’s Secure Cloud Interconnect allows users to connect to applications simply, securely and reliably,” Shawn Hakl, vice president of enterprise networking and innovation for Verizon said. “With SDN at the heart of our Secure Cloud Interconnect solution, IBM customers will find it delivers an unbeatable combination of performance, control and efficiency to enable their digital transformation.”

Verizon’s customers can now connect to IBM Cloud data centers in Dallas and San Jose, as well as Tokyo and Sydney. Verizon plans to extend the offering in Europe at the beginning of 2016.
