Cloud-based telephony and unified communications continues to catch on, and more cloud services providers are entering the fray. The latest is Voxox, which launched Cloud Phone, a virtual PBX service that is intended to address the needs of small-business users that need telephony features that go beyond the scope of the company's consumer cloud telephony applications.
At the same time, Voxox provides larger customers with IP-PBX and SIP trunking business telephone services. So this is meant to be for the smaller business. The company launched its new Cloud Phone service with three different subscription packages that cost between $19.95 and $49.95 per month.
"We know small-business owners and entrepreneurs need cost-effective, easy-to-manage solutions so that they can get on with their core business," said Bryan Hertz, CEO of Voxox, in a prepared statement. "We wanted to provide entrepreneurs with a basic yet professional phone service that addresses their telephony needs. Cloud Phone takes full advantage of our powerful unified communications service delivery platform, but its small-scale design and all-web interface makes it perfect for a small business on a budget."
The target market seems to be as small as the small office/home office (SOHO) crowd, but Voxox is also targeting small businesses. The company's marketing is reminiscent of telephony players of a few years ago—those who were offering affordable subscription services with everything included. And when a business grows, so too can the service scale up.
But things are a bit different now, and instead of offering the infrastructure needed to make use of an IP telephony system, Voxox is providing everything as a cloud service.
The three packages include:
Cloud Phone Basic/Starter Plan, which provides a single local number, 500 minutes of calling and up to two users. The cost is $19.95 per month.
Cloud Phone Plus Plan, which bumps up the calling minutes to 1,000 and provides access to up to five users. The cost is $39.95 per month.
Cloud Phone Pro Plan, which increases calling minutes to 5,000 and is accessible by up to 10 users. The cost is $49.95 per month.
For potential customers, a 30-day trial is available.
For the channel, there's an opportunity to resell the services, as Voxox has a network of channel partners. The company claims to offer 20 percent commissions on core products.
