Zenprise MDM Cloud Report Examines State of BYOD in Enterprise

Enterprise mobile device management (MDM) software provider  Zenprise‘s first MDM Cloud Report takes a deep look into the state of BYOD among enterprise companies, including the the drivers of BYOD, as well as the concerns enterprise IT departments still face. (Hint: enterprises don’t like Angry Birds.) Zenprise used its own data from its own enterprise customers during Q4 2011 to produce the report.

Here are some of the highlights.

According to Zenprise CEO Ahmed Datoo, enterprise IT departments are still concerned about the security of employee-owned devices and the loss of productivity. But Datoo is confident that MDM software will continue to improve. And as it does, Datoo says enterprises, and SMBs for that matter, will view mobile devices more as essential tools than as security risks.

Cloud-based MDM providers got even more of a boost this week when Alert Logic, a security-as-a-service provider, released its State of Cloud Security Report. The most significant finidng in the report? The cloud is actually safer than on-premise solutions.  Zenprise specifically has taken steps to try to make its cloud-based MDM software safer to use. It recently joined the Palo Alto Networks Technology Partner Program in order to incorporate Palo Alto Networks’ network firewalls into its MDM solution.
