Secure broadband access, connected home and business networking products vendor ZyXEL Communications recently announced the upcoming launch of its new 4-bay NAS540 solution, enabling both consumers and small-business users to backup and access their data anywhere and at anytime.
The NAS540, which will be available through ZyXEL resellers and e-Commerce partners, is being billed as a personal cloud—users can use the device as a portable backup storage solution and media streamer, according to the company.
“ZyXEL’s NAS540 is the perfect repository for content in both consumer and business settings,” said Steven Joe, executive vice president for Channel Business for Americas at ZyXEL, in a statement. “It was designed with end users and performance in mind to enable fast, remote access to securely backed up data.”
The NAS540 will pack a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU and 1 GB of DDR3 RAM under the hood, as well as two separate Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports and two USB 3.0 ports, respectively. An SD card slot will allow users to transfer external data, and the device includes a 120mm fan for cooling and quiet system operation even with high-intensity workloads.
Users will be able to stream stored multimedia content from the device via a built-in DLNA server, with HD and 4K content delivery available to multiple TVs and devices simultaneously, according to ZyXEL. Multiple bays also allow users to add up to four 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA II hard disks for up to 24 TB of memory, the company said.
The NAS540 solution is expected to release later this month and will retail for $312.99.
