Fully Managed, a managed services provider in Vancouver and Edmonton, has extended its IT service and support portfolio to include Apple Mac and Apple iOS (iPhone and iPad) devices. It’s the latest reminder that a small — but growing — number of MSPs are pushing beyond Windows to support Apple desktop and mobile devices.

“Most, if not all, of our clients now have Apple iOS devices connected to their  infrastructure, but over the past two years the number of MacBook and iMac devices has been gradually increasing,” Fully Managed CEO Chris Day said. “I would say that about 30-40% of our predominantly Windows client environments now have Macs joining the corporate network. We had been working with Monkey Mac for nearly 3 years, and have gradually started working more and more closely together.”

Monkey Mac Consulting Inc., based in Vancouver, offers managed services to Mac-based businesses. The company also promotes Google Apps for Business, enterprise backup and Meraki wireless network solutions.

Now, Fully Managed is bolstering its own Mac support services. Day described the strategy in a recent blog post. He noted:

“Until recently, we have done our best to steer clear of Mac OS X in the networks we support due to the perception that there were compatibility issues when interfacing an Apple computer with a Microsoft Windows back-end. While there were (and will continue to be) some complexities involved in doing this – i.e. you need to know what you’re doing – it’s been possible to create a seamless hybrid Windows/Mac network for many years. Luckily, it’s become even easier in the last year due to some key improvements with Mac OS X Lion and the release of Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac.”

To bulster its Apple support services, Fully Managed has hired Apple Consultant Luis Giraldo.”We are thrilled to have brought in one of Vancouver’s most well-known and respected Apple Consultant, Luis Giraldo,” Day said. Giraldo will also lead the development of the Fully Managed Apple Professional Services Division.
