Egenera, Fujitsu Team on Converged Infrastructure Management
March 29, 2012
If you’re looking for some data-center management pizzazz, Egenera believes it has exactly what you’re looking for. Thanks to a partnership with Fujitsu Technology Solutions, PAN Manager now will run on Fujitsu’s servers. Here’s a quick look at the partnership and the technology behind it …
Under the new agreement, Fujitsu Technology Solutions will resell Egenera PAN Manager, pre-configured and supported, on Fujitsu’s PRIMERGY BX900 blade servers. What’s so special about PRIMERGY? These severs are designed to be streamlined, cost-effective and high-performance workhorses. Its pairing with PAN Manager can deliver a quick and easy way to manage unruly data centers, roping in everything from virtualization provisioning and storage demands. According to Egenera, PAN Manager will work with “any hypervisor, network and storage array … PAN Manager’s heterogeneous and multitenant support brings security, investment protection and peace of mind to IT.”
Consider the following: Although (and because) the channel is focused heavily on the world of cloud-based solutions, there always will be data centers. Huge enterprises — and managed service providers alike — may start seeking bigger and better multiplatform management solutions such as Egenera’s. Just take a ride on the wayback machine, and you’ll remember nearly a year ago, Egenera worked with HP to deliver the very same PAN Management platform on HP’s blade servers. Don’t touch that dial — we’ll be keeping close tabs on converged infrastructure here on out.
